The admission requirements for Indian students to apply for MBBS in Russia are formulated by the National Medical Commission. Any Indian student interested in studying MBBS in Russia have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria of NMC:

What are the new rules of NMC Act 2021 ?

NMC has recently announced new regulations that foreign medical graduates must follow in order to be granted permanent registration to practice medicine in India. These new rules aim to ensure that medical students receive the highest quality education possible and are well-prepared to practice medicine in India.
 
  • Foreign Medical Graduates must be granted the permanent registration in accordance with the provisions of the NMC regulations.
  • Foreign Medical Graduates must complete a minimum duration of 54 months of medical course in a foreign country.

  • Graduates must undergo a mandatory one-year internship in the same foreign medical institution

  • The instructions for the MBBS course in Abroad must be in English medium.

  • Foreign Medical Graduates must fulfill the requirements of education and training equivalent or commensurate with that of an Indian Medical Graduate.

  • Ensure that the medical university is registered with the respective regulatory body, competent to grant license to practice medicine in India. 

A foreign medical graduate must undergo a supervised internship in India for a minimum of one year after applying for the same to the Commission; and has cleared the NEXT(National Exit Test) or such other mandated test conducted by the Commission.

Applicability of the Regulations:

​

  • These regulations will not be applicable to 
    a). Foreign Medical Graduates who acquired a foreign medical degree or primary qualification, before the implementation of these regulations.
    b).  Candidates who are pursuing MBBS abroad prior to the coming into force of these regulations;
    c). Foreign medical graduates who are specifically exempted by the Commission or the Central Government, as the case may be, by notification.

  • Foreign Medical Graduates who have acquired an MBBS degree from abroad or any equivalent course, and the candidates who are pursuing their education in medical university abroad, before the implementation of these regulations, shall be governed by the erstwhile applicable regulations.

​The commission has the right to issue a no grant of permanent registration to practice medicine in case the candidate breaks the law upon public policy or national security.

 

​Criteria for recognition of Foreign Medical Graduates to practice medicine in India:

​

  • Foreign Medical Graduates must fulfill the requirements of education and training equivalent to that of the Indian Medical Graduate.

  • Eligibility for primary medical education outside India:

  • Duration of MBBS in abroad and subjects for primary medical qualification:

  • Foreign Medical Graduates should have undergone a course of theory, practical and clinical training equivalent to a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) of India.

Graduates should have completed a mandatory one-year internship in the same foreign medical institution along with hands-on training in clinical subjects including but not limited to Community Medicine, General Medicine, Psychiatry, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Anaesthesia, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Otorhinolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Emergency or Casualty services, lab services and their sub-specialties.

a). Content of course or Training leading to primary medical qualification.
b). The course and internship or clinical clerkship in the Foreign Medical Institution shall include the subjects mentioned therein as are duly recognised by the Commission.
c).The course curriculum shall be made available for review by appropriate authorities.
​

  •  The entire course, training and internship or clerkship shall be done outside India in the same foreign medical institution throughout the course of study
     

  • ​The total duration of the MBBS course abroad shall be completed within ten years from the date of joining the course.
